Sanna Arpiainen

Sanna Arpiainen was a Research Team Leader of the Nanosystems group at VTT. She acted as co-coordinator during the project preparation and initialisation phases sharing her experience and broad scientific network to the benefit of the consortium. She has left the project in October 2022.

Victor BreaVictor Brea is an Associate Professor at the University of Santiago de Compostela. He acts as the USC’s principal investigator and leader of WP3 Cortical processor and system integration. He also works on circuit design of CNN hardware accelerators and HDC chips in WP2, and on Cortical processor in WP3.

Diego CabelloDiego Cabello is a Full Professor at the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC) and an associated researcher at the Research Center in Intelligent Technologies (CiTIUS). He works on circuit design of CNN hardware accelerators and HDC chips in WP2, and on Cortical processor in WP3.

Hannes Dahlberg is a PhD student in Nanoelectronics at Lund University. He is involved in the fabrication and characterization of ferroelectric non-volatile memories and in the CMOS Back-End-Of-Line memory integration.

Patrik Eskelinen is a Research Engineer at VTT.  A principal actor in material characterization efforts and the process implementation / integration within the project, with a particularly focused look on ALD processes.

Jacek Flak LinkedIn icon is a Research Team Leader of the Sensor System Integration group at VTT. He acts as the VTT’s principal investigator, the project coordinator, and the leader of WP5 Management and Dissemination.

Mika Grönroos is a research engineer at Kovilta. He is working on analog integrated circuit design for the cellular/cerebellar processor, with a specific focus on analog to digital conversion and sensor front-end analog simulations.

Oscar Kaatranen is a Research Scientist at VTT and PhD student of engineering physics at Aalto University. He is responsible for fabrication and characterization of samples, working on a functional FTJ modeling and simulating device behavior.

Tuomo Komulainen is a research engineer at Kovilta Oy.  He is working on learning algorithm development, software and simulations for the MISEL cellular/cerebellar processing.

Kacper Kubicki is PhD student in information and communication technology at Lodz University of Technology. He is responsible for implementation of data analysis algorithms.

Mika Kutila is a research engineer at Kovilta. He is working on analog integrated circuit design for the cellular/cerebellar processor, with a specific focus on memories, as well as PCB design for test chips.

Mika Laiho is the CTO of Kovilta. He acts as the Kovilta’s principal investigator and leader of WP2 Cellular and cerebellar processors. He is a principal actor on analog-, system level – and algorithmic implementation of the full MISEL sensor-processor system.

Eero LehtonenEero Lehtonen is a senior research engineer at Kovilta Oy.  He is leading the learning algorithm development, sensor modeling software and simulations for MISEL cellular/cerebellar processing.

Max LemmeMax Lemme is the CEO of AMO GmbH and a Full Professor at RWTH Aachen University. He acts as the AMO’s principal investigator. His expertise in MISEL project is mainly graphene/2D material-based devices and fabrication technology.

Paula LopezPaula López is an Associate Professor at the University of Santiago de Compostela and Deputy Director of the Research Center in Intelligent Technologies (CiTIUS). She works on circuit design of CNN hardware accelerators and HDC chips in WP2, and on Cortical processor in WP3.

Piotr Łuczak is PhD student in information and communication technology at Lodz University of Technology. He is responsible for design and implementation of data analysis algorithms and their adaptation to hardware-friendly form.

Sayani Majumdar is a Senior Scientist at VTT. She was the leader of WP1 Process integration until Nov.’22. Sayani is also responsible for the development of polymer-based FeRAM devices.

Zhuang Miao is a research assistant and PhD student of Electrical Engineering at the Bergische Universität Wuppertal. He is responsible for the optoelectrical characterization of samples, working on the development of photodetector concept with desired functionality.

Jan-Steffen Niehaus is a head of the department Quantum Materials of Fraunhofer CAN. With a long-term expertise on the synthesis and application of nanoparticles he acts as the Fraunhofer’s principal investigator.

Ari PaasioAri Paasio is the CSO of Kovilta Oy.  He is a principal actor on analog-, system level – and algorithmic design for the full MISEL sensor-processor system.

Óscar Pereira is a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Santiago de Compostela. He is working in the design of computing circuitry of the Cortical processor and the interface with the cerebellar processor.

Karl-Magnus Persson is a Research Scientist at VTT and acts as the leader of WP1 since Dec.’22. He is responsible for the preparation of monolithic integration onto CMOS wafers at VTT that will mitigate further integration by other consortium partners. He is also developing fabrication processes for wafer scale integration of resistive memories at VTT.

Jonne PoikonenJonne Poikonen is a CEO of Kovilta Oy.  He is participating in analog-, system level- and algorithmic design for the MISEL sensor-processor system.

Arto Rantala is a Senior Scientist at VTT. He is coordinating the WAFER runs, combining the different circuit layouts into full reticle design and assuring the compatibility of post-processing alignment marks. He also designs CMOS control circuits for FeRAM devices and arrays.

Swen Ribeiro LinkedIn icon is a research engineer at LNE. He holds a PhD in Natural Language Processing (NLP) and specializes in textual NLP with a focus on unsupervised machine learning methods. At LNE, he expanded his interests to the evaluation of image processing and the explicability of AI systems. In the MISEL project, he works with WP4 for the evaluation of the sensor.

Hendrik Schlicke is a leading scientist at Fraunhofer CAN. He is coordinating the scientific activities of Fraunhofer CAN within the project MISEL. Hendrik is an expert on device integration of nanoparticle-based materials.

Stefanie Stoll is a Research Scientist at AMO GmbH. She joined the MISEL project in January 2023 and is responsible for the fabrication and optimization of infrared photodetectors based on graphene and quantum dots.

Tero Säntti (He) is a senior research engineer at Kovilta. He is working on digital FPGA implementations for the MISEL test systems and embedded camera demonstrator.

Krzysztof ŚlotKrzysztof Ślot is a full-time professor at the Institute of Applied Computer Science of the Lodz University of Technology. He acts as the TUL’s principal investigator and is responsible for design and evaluation of data analysis methods.

Zhenxing Wang is the Head of the Graphene Electronics Group at AMO GmbH. In MISEL project, he is coordinating the scientific activities from AMO side, and he is an expert on semiconductor devices and process engineering.

Lars-Erik Wernersson is a Professor in Nanoelectronics at Lund University. He acts as the ULUND’s principal investigator.
